Flappers and Dappers Masquerade Ball will be held on Saturday, November 1st from 8:30 to 11:30 p.m. at the Ithaca YMCA. Hosted by Tompkins County Gender Equity Groups. All high school aged students are welcome to attend. Suggested donation of $7. Check the SWIS Facebook page for more details.

 

Did you enjoy Legally Blonde last year? Do you want to get in on the action? Auditions for this year's musical Catch Me If You Can are coming up soon. Based on the 2002 movie starring Tom Hanks and Leonardo DiCaprio, with exciting music by the composer who wrote Hairspray, Catch Me If You Can is a biographical crime drama based on the life of Frank Abagnale, who, before his 19th birthday, successfully performed cons worth millions of dollars by posing as a Pan American pilot, a Georgia doctor, and a Louisiana prosecutor. If you are interested in auditioning, bring a parent or guardian to one of two informational meetings on either Wednesday November 12th or Thursday November 13th from 7:00-8:30 in the chorus room in “A” building. Check out the flyers around school for more details. We are always looking for new talent, so even if you've never been on stage before, come check it out!

 

The Red Cross Club will be hosting its first blood drive of the year on Thursday, November 6 from 8:30 to 1:30 in Activities. Please sign up in the cafeteria periods 3-6 to donate.

Tryouts for the JV and Varsity girls’ basketball team will begin Monday, November 3rd from 4-6 in the new gym. Please make sure you have turned in all necessary paperwork to the medical office in order to tryout. Please see Coach Valletta in room K-103 or G-205 if you have any questions.

Another fact from the Rainbow Brigade! Asexuality is not another word for celibate. Celibacy is the decision to not have sex, but still having that attraction. Think of it this way. Today is a very special day in chemistry classes around the country, because it is the day that we celebrate that famous chemistry concept known as THE MOLE! A mole is an ENORMOUS number, specifically equal to 6.02 x 10²³, which is why it is celebrated from 6:02 a.m. until 6:02 p.m. on the 23rd day of the 10th month of the year! To celebrate this SUPREMELY IMPORTANT CONCEPT, a dozen moles have been hidden around the school today – if you find one, follow the directions on it to claim your prize! Happy Mole Day!

This week is Homecoming Week. Themes will be: today, Flannel Day; Wednesday: Collegiate Day; Thursday: Twin Day; Friday: Red and Gold Day. Friday is also the pep rally and Homecoming football game. At the pep rally, we'll be honoring our student groups (clubs, athletes, etc.) and coming together as a community to celebrate.

 

The Math Team meets after school today with Mr. Deppe in Room H-211.

 Yesterday the German exchange students from Tuttlingen came to Ithaca. They will be here until October 28. Welcome to our school!

Do you enjoy board games, Magic the Gathering? Then come have fun with like-minded people in G-202 after school on Mondays. We will teach you new board games, and hold draft tournaments. Any questions – see Mr. Benjamin or stop by G-202.

Attention all girls interesting in playing JV or Varsity basketball, we have pre-season practices on Mondays from 6:30-8:30 in the new gym and workouts in the strength and conditioning room on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5-6.  Please see Coach Valletta in room K-103 or G-205 if you have any questions.

Attention all girls interesting in playing JV or Varsity basketball, we have pre-season practices on Mondays from 6:30-8:30 in the new gym and workouts in the strength and conditioning room on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5-6.  Please see Coach Valletta in room K-103 or G-205 if you have any questions.

 

A college rep from Keuka College will visit IHS at 9:45 a.m. tomorrow. If you’d like to meet with this rep, please go to the College and Career office for a pass.

 

Fashion Club will be selling pizza in D hallway after-school on Thursday October 9th and Friday October 10th. $1.00 a slice.

 

All students taking the SAT this Saturday, October 11th, please remember to bring your photo ID as well as your admission ticket. Students will not be admitted without them.

 

Please remember that athletic events are school functions in which school rules apply.  All students will display good sportsmanship and appropriate behavior while attending ICSD sporting events.  Alcohol consumption is strictly prohibited.  Poor behavior of any kind will not be tolerated and you will be asked to leave the event.  During evening varsity games there is a NO Reentry policy, once you leave you may not return.

 

Next week is Homecoming Week. Themes will be: Tuesday, Oct. 14, Flannel Day; Wednesday, Oct. 15: Collegiate Day; Thursday, Oct. 16: Twin Day; Friday, Oct. 17: Red and Gold Day. Friday is also the pep rally and Homecoming football game. At the pep rally, we'll be honoring our student groups (clubs, athletes, etc.) and coming together as a community to celebrate.

Attention Juniors: If you have not signed up to take the PSAT, please do so as soon as possible. You can pick up a review book when you sign up in the College and Career Office. The PSAT is required for all juniors and there is no fee.

 

Students, would you like to learn more about the Real Estate Industry? Students from the Cornell Real Estate Club will be here 4th period today, in F-36 to give an overview of commercial real estate and opportunities in the field. Sign-up in the College and Career Office.

 

 Seniors! Need help with the college application process or help with your college essay? Cornell students from Phi Sigma Pi National Honor Fraternity will be here today after school in the library to help you. Stop by and get the scoop from students who just went through this process themselves. Please sign up in the College & Career office as soon as possible.
