Hey Juniors, the Class of 2016 will be hosting an open meeting next Tuesday, March 3rd in H-Courtyard to discuss plans for Junior Prom. If you want a hand in deciding the music and food for the prom, we will see you there!

Join us for Cabaret Night, an evening of music and comedy, Friday, March 6 and Saturday, March 7 at 7 p.m. Tickets are $5, and will be on sale during lunch periods and at the door. Refreshments included!

Attention students who went on the trip to Costa Rica: Please choose your TOP 10 pictures or videos from our trip, put them on a flash drive, and bring them to Mrs. Denissoff by the end of the day Monday. We will be making a slideshow and would love to incorporate your photos!

There is free hot chocolate in the cafeteria until 1 p.m. all week!

Attention  Seniors: ­ The 2015 I.H.S. Senior award application, CFCU Scholarship Award, Cayuga Medical Award, and the Finger Lakes Running Club applications are in the College and Career Center.  Make sure you pick one up.  If you have any questions, please see Mr. Noyes in G116.  The Senior Award Application deadline is March 26th.

11th graders who have enrolled in either AP Lit or AP Lang must take and pass the qualifying exam on either Tuesday, March 3 or Thursday, March 5 after school in York. See Mr. Byrne in F-5 with any questions.

Conversations with a Scientist continues tonight at a new, earlier start time of 4:30 pm.  Join us to hear Jonathan Butcher, biomedical engineering researcher, explain how the heart is assembled and develops in utero.  How does blood flow drive this development?  Can altered blood flow lead to heart defects?  How can blood be re-oriented before birth to avoid heart defects?  Learn about this fascinating work which crosses the boundaries of biology, physics and engineering tonight, 4:30-5:30 pm in H courtyard.  Everyone is welcome.

The 2015 Winter Formal will be held this Saturday, from 8-11 pm at the Lakewatch Inn. Tickets are only $20 and can be purchased during any lunch period in the cafeteria. No tickets will be sold on Friday. Remember to bring your dance contract, signed by you and your parent or guardian. Also, all overdue library books must be returned before purchasing your ticket.

Today’s mental health message is “What is anxiety?” It is normal to experience some stress in your life. Anxiety is a reaction to stress and can be beneficial in some situations. But, consistent, high levels of fear or stress for several days in a row can lead to anxiety disorders such as post-traumatic stress, obsessive-compulsive behaviors, and panic attacks. Learn more at the “What Mental Health Looks Like” display in the library!

The 2015 Winter Formal will be held this Saturday, from 8-11 pm at the Lakewatch Inn. Tickets are only $15 today, during any lunch period in the cafeteria. On Wednesday and Thursday, tickets will be $20. No tickets will be sold on Friday. Remember to bring your dance contract, signed by you and your parent or guardian. Also, all overdue library books must be returned before purchasing your ticket.

To all 11th graders: The Rotary Youth Leadership Award (RYLA) application is now available for you to fill out.  If you are interested, please stop by to see Mr. Noyes for a copy in G116.  This application is granted to students who show or are interested in leadership potential. The deadline is March 16th.

Hey, do you like music? Are you interested in learning how it’s made? Learn about the production behind beat making, electronic music, record production, and more at the new IHS Music Production Club after school today. Come check it out in the Kulp music theory lab.

February is Mental Health Month at IHS, presented by the Site Based Council and Suicide Prevention Center. Check out our display in the library where you can take the mental health survey of the week or anonymously ask your own questions. We’ll report the results next week.

The 2015 Winter Formal will be on Saturday, February 28th, from 8-11 pm at the Lakewatch Inn. Get your Early Bird Special ticket for only $15 from today through February 24, during any lunch period in the cafeteria. Remember to bring money and your dance contract, signed by you and your parent or guardian. Also, all overdue library books must be returned before purchasing your ticket.

Today, in the spirit of Valentine’s Day, everyone should wear as much pink and red as they can. During your lunch period you can go to the table run by Student Council to be judged for a spirit contest. First place gets half a dozen donuts, 2nd place gets 4 donuts and 3rd place gets 2 donuts.

Bring in your old, gently-used dresses for Green Team’s Dress Exchange! There are boxes in the cafeteria, library, main office, and H-Courtyard where you can drop off a dress. Then, if you need a dress for Winter Formal, come to the Dress Exchange this Friday, the 13th, in Activities during all lunch periods, to pick one out for free!

You go, Glen Coco! Wish your friends, enemies, frenemies, or significant others a Happy Valentine’s Day with conversation hearts and a personalized message, this week in the cafeteria for $1.

You cold IHS? Come to the cafeteria after school today and buy a cup of hot cocoa for $.50. Support our local National Honor Society and the good work we do!

On Valentine’s Day, if you have a love, support the SPCA. Key Club is selling carnations in the cafeteria this week to support the SPCA and the Rescue Mission. Carnations are $1 you deliver, $2 we deliver.

Have you been curious about what it’s like to build a robot? Have you ever wondered what goes on in that mysterious E hallway from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. every week night and from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturdays? Come to the IHS Technology and Engineering Open House hosted by Code Red Robotics on Saturday, February 7, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and you’ll be able to experience a Code Red build session as well as explore the activities of other technology affiliated groups! See you there!

Want to look fab at Winter Formal? Need a dress? Have too many dresses?  Bring your gently-used dresses to any of the labeled boxes in the cafeteria, library, H-Courtyard, and the main office. Then come to Green Team’s dress exchange on Friday, February 13th in Activities during all lunch periods to pick out a new one for free! You can take a dress even if you don’t donate one, but the more donations, the better.
