The
Village of Ithaca Organization will be hosting a college readiness event “Connecting
College and High School Students – the college process from a college student’s
perspective” on Thursday, April 19 from 6:15 to 7:30 p.m. in the IHS cafeteria.
All are welcome!
There will be a
Junior Prom committee meeting on Monday, April 23 in Activities after school.
If you want to have a say in the food options at Junior Prom, come to the
meeting!
Conversations
with a Scientist is back! Join Chem Club this Thursday from 4:30 to 5:30 in H111 as we
listen to Cornell Chemical Engineering Professor Christopher Alabi talk about
his work in engineering medicines of the future. There will be food.
Hey IHS! Tonight
the Brain Team is hosting its Spring Trivia Night. In
teams of up to six people, answer trivia questions and compete for prizes. The
event starts at 6:00 PM in the Cafeteria, and
entry is $10 per person, which comes with pizza and snacks. Bring your friends!
SIGN UP
to participate in IHS's annual Poetry Slam! The Slam will be held Tuesday, April 24th, after school, in the Black Box Theater.
Prepare ONE performance poem for this event. Tandem and/or Team Slams are
permissible. A variety of prizes will be awarded! YOU MUST SIGN UP
by Friday, April 20th, if you plan to participate.

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority will be offering an academic
scholarship again this year to an African American or Latino graduating high
school senior who is college bound in the fall. If you are interested,
please put a note with your name and the scholarship in Mrs. Powers'
mailbox. The application is a fillable pdf form so the application will
be emailed to you. Print out the completed application and submit to Ms.
Sessoms by TODAY.
The Latino
Civic Association of Tompkins County is pleased to announce the CECILIA MONTANER-VARGAS AWARD, an opportunity for a Latina/o graduating high school senior to
be awarded a scholarship totaling $800. The deadline for submission
is May 1.

The
Finger Lakes Runners Club scholarship is now available and offers two $1,000
scholarships to be awarded to two high school seniors who participated in their
school’s cross-country and/or track &field teams. See Mr. Noyes for more
information.
Are you interested in working on cars and trucks? Would you
like to learn how to use the basic tools of an auto shop to work on your own
vehicles? If so Consumer Automotive might be for you! See
your guidance counselor to sign up!!
Are you interested in working in Graphic
Design? Would you enjoy making your own stickers, business cards,
and clothing? If so Graphic Comm and Printing Technology might be
for you! See your guidance counselor to sign up!
This is a reminder to sophomores who have
registered to take the PSAT10. The exam will be given Friday, April 20, 2018 at 8:55 am sharp in the new
gym. Be sure to arrive 15-20 minutes early to sign
in. There will be no backpacks, food, drinks, cell phones or
other electronic devices allowed in the testing room. Please take
all of your belongings to your locker before reporting to the testing room. Remember
to bring some # 2 leaded pencils, erasers and a calculator.
The Tattler is looking for new editorial board members! Pick
up an application in the library or the main office, and submit it online or in
the submission envelope by Thursday.
The
class of 2019 is selling Krispy Kreme donuts. Juniors, if you are interested in
selling, see a class officer or print a form from last week’s email. The junior
who sells the most over 10 boxes will receive a free ticket to junior prom! If
you are interested in buying donuts, see a junior class officer.
