The Ithaca City School District is proud to be awarding the NYS Seal of Biliteracy for the first time this year to eligible seniors.  If you are proficient in two or more languages, then please come to the NYS Seal of Biliteracy Family Information Night on Tuesday, December 4th at 7pm in Activities to learn more about this prestigious award.



Write for the Tattler’s annual literary issue! The Tattler is accepting poetry, photography, short fiction and graphic art submissions, and the best works in each category will receive prizes! Send submissions to editor@ihstattler.com by midnight on Thursday, December 6th to have your work featured in the issue.

Results for the IHS musical are in.  Rent, School Edition, received the most votes at 233. Little Shop received 223 votes. Thank you to all the students who voted! There are many ways to be involved onstage, backstage, and in the pit. We hope you'll join us. Audition workshops and info sessions will be held in early January.

Attention Seniors: Tomorrow Lifetouch will be in the lobby of Kulp Auditorium from 8:30-3:00 for any senior who would like to have their portrait taken for the Yearbook. Students should obtain a pass during a free period on Tuesday. If they do not have a free period they can request a pass from their teacher or Associate Principal. These portrait sittings are free and the image will be forwarded to the Yearbook.

Calling all students: Does history matter in our community? What stories matter to you? What stories have been hidden away, forgotten, or are not being told? Join The History Center for an afternoon of conversation and fun activities to explore how we can make these stories visible! This youth event is TODAY from 5 to 6:30pm at The History Center in downtown Ithaca. It's free and there will be food. For more information, see Mr. Innes.



The PSAT-10 exam will be given to all interested sophomore students on Friday, March 1, 2019.   The fee to take the exam is $16.00 and students can register and pay for the exam with Mr. Barnes in the College and Career Office.  Checks should be made out to Ithaca High School.  The deadline to register is Friday, December 14.  Practice booklets will be given out well before the date of the exam.  If you expect to receive testing accommodations you must apply for these through the College Board.

This weekend, the LACS Shakespeare Company is putting on 'R + J', a production of Romeo and Juliet set in the modern day through an LGBTQ+ lens. Come support your fellow student actors! Tickets are available for a suggested donation of $5-10. Email lacshakespeare@gmail.com to reserve in advance, or buy at the door! The performances are Friday at 7:00pm, Saturday at 7:00pm, and Sunday at 2:00pm, at the LACS Blackbox Theater.



The Ithaca Police Department is teaming up with Team Red White and Blue to host the second annual Veterans Day 5K run/walk this Sunday, 11 November from 10:00-11:00 at Dewitt Park. This event is free to the public.

This month Professor of Molecular Biology and Genetics Siu Sylvia Lee and PhD candidate Eve Vavagiakis will discuss their research and paths to careers as women in Science.  Snacks will be provided.

Students: to park in the parking lot, you need to have a parking permit. Those are available for $5 in Ms. Gray’s office, G-105. All funds go to the Senior Class and will help keep prices down for Prom, Trip, and other events.

Come listen to Professor Jeff Niederdeppe from Cornell's Department of Communication talk about the relationship between mass media and climate change TODAY after school in H-104.



Girls JV & Varsity basketball tryouts will be TODAY from 4-6 in Bliss Gym. Boys JV Basketball tryouts will be held today, tomorrow, and Wednesday from 5:30 to 7:00 pm in the New Gym.

Girls JV & Varsity basketball tryouts will be on Monday Nov. 5th from 4-6 in Bliss Gym. Boys JV Basketball tryouts will be held Nov. 5th, 6th, and 7th from 5:30-7:00 pm in the New Gym.

The Chromebook club will be meeting  after school Thursday, Nov. 8 in the library. We will be moving forward with a new project, and there will be refreshments.

Off season workouts start this coming Tuesday at 4pm in the weight room for all off-season student athletes, such as but not limited to, Boy & Girls lacrosse, Boys and Girls XC, Girls Tennis, Boys Golf, Football, Boys & Girls soccer, Baseball, Softball, and Volleyball. Make sure to wear proper workout clothes and sneakers. Thank you.

SUNY Brockport will be hosting Instant Decision Day on Thursday, November 8th, in room J37 from 12:30pm-3:30pm.  Please see Mr. Barnes in the College and Career Office to sign up.

Hey Senior Class! Our Senior Bowling night will be held on Friday, November 16th, 2018 from 7 to 10 PM at Bowl-O-Drome. This will be a lanyard event, meaning free admission for any seniors with lanyards. Check your emails for how to purchase or replace your lanyards! Let's get j19gy with it!

What's up IHS! The Annual Handball Tournament will be held Saturday, November 17th, 2018 in Bliss Gym. Check your emails for details. Concessions will be available and prizes will be awarded for the best dressed team!

The deadline for registering for the ski club bus is December 18th.  Stop by G116 to ask about our scholarship program.  Sign up as soon as possible with Mr. Heurich, Mr. Krywe, or Mr. Breigle.  All members are eligible to win free swag during the season!
