B Day
Hey
IHS Students! Do you love playing questions on trivia apps or obsessively watch
game shows like Jeopardy? If so, consider joining the Brain Team! Brain Team is
Ithaca High School’s nationally ranked quiz bowl team, and we are looking for
new members to expand our roster! If you are interested and want to see what we
are about, come to our new member meeting today after school in G102 to find
out what playing academic quiz bowl looks like and to possibly attend future regional
or even national competitions. See you there!
If you are interested in
going to Spain during February break, you need to see Mrs. Miettunen in K18 today
to hold your spot. We're doing lots of fundraising and regular
trip club meetings will start soon.
Interested
in STEM subjects and want to compete in science related events against students
from all around New York State? Join Science Olympiad! Our first meeting is
today after school. There will be snacks!
Math weekly challenge number 2 is up right
outside of H-201. If you didn't get a chance to see the first challenge,
the correct answer and those that got it right are on the board! Come
check it out and see if you can get your brain pumping with this week’s
problem. Submit your answer by this
Friday! We will draw a few random names
from all the correct answers at the end of September for a prize!
Want
to get more involved in the community? Come join Key Club tomorrow for our first
meeting of the year in H206, Ms.Gefell's room. We do community service, get
connected with volunteer opportunities in the community, eat snacks, and have a
great time! New members are always welcome!
Code
Red Robotics is holding their first new member meeting tomorrow from 3:45 to
4:30pm in room E1. Code Red isn't just robotics. If you are interested in
joining an inclusive, fun and educational club, Code Red might be right for
you. No experience is required. Just the willingness to have fun, learn and
work with others. Hope to see you Tuesday!
There will be a math team
meeting tomorrow after school in Mr. Deppe's room, H211. New members are
welcome. Food and drinks will be provided.
Beauty of Color Club begins
tomorrow at 3:45 pm in Activities. Beauty of Color is for all students. Come
check us out, and bring a friend. Look forward to seeing you Tuesday!
Are you interested in
biology? Do you want to do fun research and enter in internationally recognized
competitions? Come to Ms. Jewett's room in H114 this Thursday after school to
learn more about how you can be part of something great!
Announcement: Hey captains!
Thursday, September 19th will be our fist Captains Council meeting of the year.
Captains from last winter or spring, and captains from this fall will be
expected to be there. If you are a captain and are not able to make it, please
send someone else from your team. There will be food.
Auditions for the Fall Drama,
Twelve Angry Men, will be this Wednesday from 6 to 9pm and Thursday from 4 to 7
pm. Attend one audition only. No preparation necessary. Casting will be
non-traditional and all who wish to participate in the production will be able
to do so. Please contact Ms. Tino for more information.
Want
to learn investment research and strategy? Interested in learning about the
stock market and trading? Join IHS Finance & Entrepreneurship Club. We meet
on Thursdays in Room G208 after school and Ms. Kautz is the advisor. Everyone
is welcome no matter your level of experience/financial literacy. Our first
meeting will be on Thursday the 19th.
Want
to learn how to build houses while volunteering for community service hours?
Join Habitat for Humanity Club. We go around to local build sites in Tompkins
County and help make home ownership experience possible for dedicated members
of our community by helping them build their own homes. Hands on experience,
volunteer hours, making an impact, why not join? Contact Mr. Shyne or Yann
Sylvester for details regarding the build sites and build dates.
Greetings Staff! In case you
were wondering, our wellness center/weight room is open to staff 4-6 pm Monday-
Thursday. If there are times during the day you want to get into the weight
room, please stop by Q115A, and we will hook you up! ICSD Staff...Striving to
be well!
The
Rotary Club of Ithaca is accepting applications through 9/28/19, for the
2020-21 Rotary Youth Exchange Scholarship Program. Students currently in
grades, 9, 10, and 11, who are interested in the opportunity to spend the
2020-21 school year overseas in the highly regarded Rotary exchange program,
should see Mrs. Miettunen in K18 for more information and an applications.
Applications are due September 28.
Attention
Seniors! Want to polish up your essay writing skills for college
applications? Then be sure to attend the College Essay Writing Workshop. It
will take place on Tuesday, September 24th, in York Lecture Hall during all
lunch periods. To attend please sign up with Mr. Barnes in the College and
Career Office. Teachers are also invited to bring their entire classes.
