Day 1

 

 

Do you enjoy board games, Magic the Gathering? Then come have fun with like-minded people in G-202 after school on Mondays. We will teach you new board games, and hold draft tournaments. Any questions – see Mr. Benjamin or stop by G-202.

Do you like to play improv games and have fun? Well, Improv Club is where you want to be. We will also perform for the school This club meets today after school in H-217. All are welcome and there will be food. If you have any questions, see Mr. Pepe in Room H-217.

 Ithaca High School’s nationally-ranked QuizBowl team – the Brain Team – is looking for new members.  If you have a love for literature, a spirit for science, or a heat for history, we want you.  If you have a fervor for philosophy, a mania for music, or an ardor for art, we want you.  A passion for pop music?  A vim for video games?  We want you too.  If you’re interested in joining this quirky quest for quality quizzers, come to room G102 after school today to check out what we do!  We hope to have you join us!

 

Attention all girls interesting in playing JV or Varsity basketball, we have pre-season practices on Mondays from 6:30-8:30 in the new gym and workouts in the strength and conditioning room on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5-6.  Please see Coach Valletta in room K-103 or G-205 if you have any questions.

 

The following college reps will be visiting IHS today: Keuka College at 9:45, Johnson & Wales University at 10:30, Sarah Lawrence at 11:20, Elmira College at 12:15. If you’d like to meet with any of these reps, please go to the College and Career office for a pass.

 

Fashion Club will be selling pizza in D hallway after-school today and Friday October 10th. $1.00 a slice.

 

All students taking the SAT this Saturday, October 11^th, please remember to bring your photo ID as well as your admission ticket. Students will not be admitted without them.

 

Please remember that athletic events are school functions in which school rules apply.  All students will display good sportsmanship and appropriate behavior while attending ICSD sporting events.  Alcohol consumption is strictly prohibited.  Poor behavior of any kind will not be tolerated and you will be asked to leave the event.  During evening varsity games there is a NO Reentry policy, once you leave you may not return.

 

Next week is Homecoming Week. Themes will be: Tuesday, Oct. 14, Flannel Day; Wednesday, Oct. 15: Collegiate Day; Thursday, Oct. 16: Twin Day; Friday, Oct. 17: Red and Gold Day. Friday is also the pep rally and Homecoming football game. At the pep rally, we'll be honoring our student groups (clubs, athletes, etc.) and coming together as a community to celebrate.

Students, would you like to learn more about the Real Estate Industry? Students from the Cornell Real Estate Club will be here 4^th period today, in F-36 to give an overview of commercial real estate and opportunities in the field. Sign-up in the College and Career Office.

Cornell students from Phi Sigma Pi National Honor Fraternity will be here today after school in the library to help you. Stop by and get the scoop from students who just went through this process themselves. Please sign up in the College & Career office as soon as possible.

Attention students – support the sophomore class by guessing the number of popcorn kernels in a jar! Make your guesses in the cafeteria during lunch periods today. $.25 for 1 guess and $.50 for 3 guesses. The top 3 winners win free drink gift cards to Gimmee Coffee. First place gets 4, second place 2 and third place 1.

Are you strong in hands on activities like designing and building C02 cars, architectural models, model airplanes, or even graphic technology?  Or maybe you have an interest in music production or public speaking?  Technology Student Association allows you to put these talents and so many more to the test against students from across the globe at the national conference.  The Technology Student Association will hold its first meeting today, in room E-11 at 3:45.  See Mr. Sauve if you have any questions!!!

 Are you thinking about college? Wondering what you need to do when?  Do you have questions about which tests to take, how to ask for recommendations, or where to go for information about colleges? Are you wondering about how to apply early decision and/or early action? Come to the informative session on Tips for Applying to College, led by Student Services Department leader Stephen Jones October 7 from 6-7 p.m. in York Lecture Hall.  Mr. Jones will provide helpful information about applying to college and will answer your questions.  Refreshments will be provided by the IHS PTA.  Students and parents/guardians are all welcome - hope to see you there!
