Day 4

Today’s mental health message is “What is anxiety?” It is normal to experience some stress in your life. Anxiety is a reaction to stress and can be beneficial in some situations. But, consistent, high levels of fear or stress for several days in a row can lead to anxiety disorders such as post-traumatic stress, obsessive-compulsive behaviors, and panic attacks. Learn more at the “What Mental Health Looks Like” display in the library!

Conversations with a Scientist continues this Thursday at a new, earlier start time of 4:30pm.  Join us to hear Jonathan Butcher, biomedical engineering researcher, explain how the heart is assembled and develops in utero.  How does blood flow drive this development?  Can altered blood flow lead to heart defects?  How can blood be re-oriented before birth to avoid heart defects?  Learn about this fascinating work which crosses the boundaries of biology, physics and engineering this Thursday, 4:30-5:30 pm in H courtyard.  Everyone is welcome.
