A college rep from SUNY Brockport will be visiting IHS today at 9:45. If you’d like to meet with the rep, please see Ms. Sullivan in the College and Career Office.

Attention Juniors: Please stop by the main office to see Ms. Sullivan to sign up for the PSAT that will be given on Wednesday, October 11. There will be no charge to take the exam and you will receive a practice booklet and an informational sheet when you register. This exam is for Juniors only!

Juniors and Seniors interested in attending the TC3 College Fair on Tuesday, October 17 should pick up permission slips in the Main Office or Student Services. The deadline for returning your permission slips is October 2.

Our Financial Aid Night presentation will be taking place Monday, October 23rd from 6-7:30 p.m. in York Lecture Hall. Our presenter will be Mrs. Barbie Bargher, Assistant Director in the Office of Student Financial Services from Ithaca College. We hope that this evening will help you and your parents understand the financial aid process as you continue to plan for the costs of higher education.

 

The Senior Class is having its first Krispy Kreme Donut Sale of the year! You can order a box of one dozen donuts for only $10. We will be outside activities after school today if you are interested in pre-ordering! 

 

Hi Seniors! Those who bought a lanyard can pick them up after school today outside of activities. Lanyards can also be purchased for $20 at this time. 

 

The ultimate frisbee club will be meeting in H-112 at 3:45 Monday, October 2nd after school. The focus of this club will be the development of fundamental skills and learning how ultimate is played, but it will also include opportunities to play fun games of pickup. The club is open to students of all skill levels. All interested students are encouraged to come to the meeting on Monday. See Mr. Greer in H112 if you have any questions.

Here at Chromebook club we diagnose and fix Chromebooks, sometimes by literally ripping them apart and gluing them back together. If you are someone who is interested in the inner workings of the Chromebooks and of computers in general, then this is the club for you. Volunteering with us counts for Code Red Robotics and likely other clubs with volunteering requirements as well! Last year 93 support tickets were addressed with 60 successes, and we aim to top that this year. If you are interested, there will be an informational/training meeting after school in the library today.

    The Ithaca High School Music and Theatre Departments are pleased to announce this year’s spring musical, The Hunchback of Notre DameBased on the Victor Hugo novel and songs from the Disney animated feature, The Hunchback of Notre Dame showcases the film’s Academy Award-nominated score while embracing the darker themes put forth in the original romantic-gothic novel by Hugo. Auditions will be in November and the show goes up in April. Stay tuned for information about the upcoming auditions.

Science Olympiad is a state and nationwide science competition. Students compete in many different events that cover a wide spectrum of science and engineering from human anatomy, satellite sensing, electric cars, chemistry, and much more. Members of our team win medals and scholarships at the competitions. Science Olympiad is having its first meeting today in E-31, Mr. Fellman's room. Meetings are every Monday throughout the year. New members are always welcome!

 

Do you love Jeopardy? Do you like to read about history or science in your spare time? The nationally-ranked Ithaca High School Brain Team is recruiting new members for the 2017-2018 season! If you are interested in playing in academic quizbowl competitions, come to our New Member meeting today after school in room G102 and see what Quizbowl is all about!

Are you interested in behind the scenes theater? Lighting, sound, set construction, properties? Theater Tech Club will be having an initial meeting today after school in the Black Box Theater. Anyone interested is welcome, and no experience is necessary.

Hey IHS! Do you want to give back to the community, eat free food and have fun at the same time? Join Key Club, the community service club at IHS. We meet every other Tuesday in H-206, Ms. Gefell’s room. Our first meeting will be next Tuesday, September 19. Hope to see you there!

Looking for a new experience?  Join IHS BioBuilders and learn about genetic engineering hands-on.  Come to H-114 after school on Thursday, Sept. 14th for a brief information meeting.

Attention Juniors: Please stop by the main office to see Ms. Sullivan to sign up for the PSAT that will be given on Wednesday, October 11. There will be no charge to take the exam and you will receive a practice booklet and an informational sheet when you register. This exam is for Juniors only!

Juniors and Seniors interested in attending the TC3 College Fair on Tuesday, October 17 should pick up permission slips in the Main Office or Student Services. The deadline for returning your permission slips is October 2. The College Fair will also have an evening session from 6-8 p.m. for students wishing to attend with their parents. IHS will not provide transportation for the evening session.

Interested in learning about investments and taking control of your own finances? Come this Thursday to our Finance Club meeting in room G208. Learn to invest, trade, and pick winners!

 

All ICSD students get in free to ICSD sporting events. Once school IDs are provided students will be expected to show them, but until then all you have to do is show up. See you there! Let's Go Little Red!

 

Auditions for the fall drama production:  "Fools", a comic fable by Neil Simon, will be Monday, September 18 from 4 to 7 and Tuesday, September 19 from 6 to 9 pm.  Attend one day only.  Please sign up on the drama bulletin board near the Black Box Theatre.  All are welcome!  See Ms. Tino for more info.

 

Model United Nations is having its first meeting this Thursday in F4. Anyone is welcome.

 

Science Olympiad is a competition with many different events covering a vast array of topics in science. Science Olympiad is having its first meeting this coming Monday, September 18. New members are welcome!

 

A college rep from Hobart & Willilam Smith Colleges will be visiting IHS today at 9:45. See Ms. Sullivan in the College and Career Office if you’d like to meet with this rep.

 

If you care about the environment, come to Green Team Mondays, after school, in Mr. Johnson’s room H-104. There will be food!

Picture Day is today.  It's important to get your picture taken so you will receive your school ID.  This is important for all students, including Seniors. Also teachers and staff, please have your picture taken also.

Attention seniors! A Senior Lanyard is your admission ticket into senior events throughout the year. Lanyards can be pre-ordered from Mr. Mellander in Activities for $15 from now through Sept. 22nd. Students eligible for free and reduced price lunch can order one for half the price. Get yours today!
