Day 2
There will be a college tour of Ithaca College on Friday,
March 28. If you are a sophomore or junior interested in going on the tour,
please pick up a permission slip in the College and Career Office.
Attention seniors! Interested in going on the Senior Trip on May
30 and 31 to Lake Placid? There will be a mandatory parent meeting on Monday,
March 17th in the cafeteria. Your parent or guardian must attend if you plan to
go on the trip. This is the first overnight senior trip in almost a decade, so
make sure you don't miss out! If your parent or guardian can't make the
meeting, you or they need to contact Mr. Mellander in Activities before March
17.
Muscular dystrophy is a disease that affects millions of
Americans. This month, NHS will be holding a fund-raiser to benefit patients
with muscular dystrophy every Wednesday and Friday of March in the cafeteria
during lunch periods. Donate a dollar, write your name on a shamrock, and
receive a free baked good or piece of candy as a thank-you! All proceeds go
straight to charity.
Need to buy a review book for an upcoming final or AP test?
Buy it this Saturday at the Science Olympiad Barnes and Noble fundraiser! Come
to the store and buy anything between 10 and 5 and a portion of the proceeds
will benefit our club!
Sophomores, juniors and seniors – there will be a trip to
TC3 to tour the campus and talk to admissions counselors on Tuesday, April 1.
Please sign up in the College and Career Office.
Interested in
touring a synthetic biology lab or one of Cornell engineering’s many machine
shops? Cornell’s Society of Women Engineers is hosting tours of both this
Saturday from 10-12 a.m. for any IHS female student! E-mail jc2466@cornell.edu for more details.
Brace yourselves. The Handball Tournament is coming. Make a
team of 6-8 players and sign up today in the cafeteria. It is $5 per player,
and teams must be coed. Check the posters around the school for full details. I
hope you’re ready.
IHS Musucal Crew Members: Legally Blonde T Shirts must be ordered
by Sunday March 16. You can pick up order forms from Mr. Brookhouse, Ms. Zawel
or Ms. Zaryski. If you plan on returning the form to Mr. Brookhouse he will
need it Friday by the end of the day.
Attention, Class of 2017! The freshmen class of IHS will be
holding a St. Patrick’s Day themed bake sale on Monday, March 17. Baked goods
will be available in the cafeteria during 4th and 6th
period lunches and after school in the library. We will also be holding a
jellybean counting contest. Come and support your class!
At current smoking rates, a quarter of a million kids alive
today in New York State will die early from tobacco-related illnesses. Prevent
tobacco use! Save a life! Next Wednesday is Kick Butts Day at GIAC from 4-5
p.m. KBD is a national day of activism that empowers youth to stand out, speak
up, and seize control against Big Tobacco. How will you take action?
