A Day
Do you want to be a Student Council class
representative? Student Council will hold 20-minute information sessions after
school today and tomorrow, and zero period on Wednesday. Sessions will be held
in York and are mandatory to attend if you want to be on your class ballot.
Sessions will end before afternoon sports practices.
Tabletop Gaming Club meets on Monday afternoons in H113 from
3:32-4:30. We play Dungeons and Dragons, Magic the Gathering, chess, and
any other game you want to bring!
With the ever growing need for the resettlement of refugees,
it has never been more important for Ithaca to be a welcoming host community.
Help the cause by joining IHS Welcomes Refugees, which is meeting Tuesday in
G204.
Are you interested in Chemistry, Biology,
Physics, or any other field of science? Or do you like building towers,
hovercrafts, or electric cars? Join Science Olympiad! We meet every Monday in
E31. Hope to see you there!
Mock Trial will have its first meeting after school tomorrow
in F3. Anyone is welcome to come and find out more about the club. There will
be food.
Students who are interested in using the weight room this
school year must attend a lift/safety orientation, which will be held after
school in the weight room 3:30 to 4 pm today to October 5th. Students
who do not come to an orientation will not be permitted access to the weight
room after school. Please note the weight room will not be available for use
for the general student body till after October 5th.
The IHS Finance and Entrepreneurship Club is looking for new
members. Join a competitive club comprised of knowledgeable members who are
happy to answer any of your questions related to financial markets or starting
and managing an enterprise. There is no need to have any experience in these
fields as it is inclusive of all members regardless of background. We meet
Thursdays in room G208 with Ms.Kautz. Have any questions? Email Yann Sylvester,

Seniors:
Tammy Shapiro and Kristin Blake from Cornell University Admission's Office will
be presenting to seniors on Wednesday - September 26 - in F-16 in the
Library during the lunch periods to talk about the do's and don'ts of the
college essay. Please plan to join them. They will give you wonderful tips on
writing a great essay! If you have a class during the lunch period, you can get
a pass from Ms. Sullivan in the College and Career Office.
Ski club
forms for the 2018-2019 season are with Mr. Heurich in the library, Mr. Krywe
and Mr, Breigle in E-16, or Mr. Noyes. Stop by G116 to ask about our
scholarship program. Early registration expires October 15th. Please sign
up asap or else you will be missing the chance to win free swag!
Come join African Latino Club. We meet every Wednesday in D5
@3:45 pm!
The PSAT/NMSQT will be given to all juniors
on Wednesday, October 10, 2018 in the new gym. There will
be no charge for this exam and it is for juniors only. Students must
register for the exam in the College & Career Office between now
and October 5th. Students
will be given practice materials and an informational sheet when they register.
All juniors are encouraged to take the exam.
Juniors and seniors interested in attending the
TC-3 College Fair on Tuesday, October 16th. Please
pick up your permission slips in the Main Office/College &
Career. The deadline for returning your permission slips
is Wednesday, September 26th. The college fair will also have an evening
session from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm for students wishing to attend with
their families. Ithaca
High School will not provide transportation for the evening session.
Seniors:
Our financial aid presentation will be held on Monday - October 15th -
from 6:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. in York Lecture Hall. Our presenter, Barbie
Bargher - Assistant Director of Student Financial Services at Ithaca College, will be providing financial aid
information to seniors and their families. Please do not miss out on this
important event. Hope to see you there.
Staff:
Please remember that you are not allowed to park in the small lot (near
ITA building) unless there are designated spots with lines. Emergency
vehicles need to have access at all times. If you are parked there,
please move your cars.
