A Day
Students who are interested
in using the weight room this school year must attend a lift/safety
orientation, which will be held after school in the weight room 3:30 to 4
pm today to October 5th. Students who do not come to an orientation will
not be permitted access to the weight room afterschool. Please note the weight
room will not be available for use for the general student body till
after October 5th.
Want
to experience what it is like to be part of a TV show? Well, come to the first
TV Production Club meeting of the year which will be held in F-41, near the
cafeteria. TV Production Club is seeking new members of all experience levels.
Whether you want to be on camera or behind the scenes, we have a place for you.
Come to TV Production Club Monday, September 17th at 3:45 for more
information.
The PSAT/NMSQT will be given to
all juniors on Wednesday, October 10, 2018 in the new
gym. There will be no charge for this exam and it is for juniors
only. Students must register for the exam in the College &
Career Office between now and October 5th. Students will be given practice
materials and an informational sheet when they register. All juniors are
encouraged to take the exam.
Juniors
and seniors interested in attending the TC-3 College Fair on Tuesday,
October 16th. Please pick up your
permission slips in the Main Office/College & Career. The
deadline for returning your permission slips is Wednesday, September 26th.
The college fair will also have an evening session from 6:00 pm – 8:00
pm for students wishing to attend with their families. Ithaca High School
will not provide transportation for the evening session.
Are
you interested in Chemistry, Biology, Physics, or any other field of science?
Or do you like building towers, hovercrafts, or electric cars? Join Science
Olympiad! We meet every Monday in E31 starting on September 17th. Hope to see
you there!
All
seniors interested in applying for NHS membership who are new entrants or who missed
the May deadline for another legitimate reason will need to pick up the
application form from Mrs. Cameron in the main office. The completed
application is due back by Monday, September 24.
Hey IHS, do you want to give back to the
community locally and globally AND get free food while at it? Come to Key Club,
the IHS community service organization! Meetings are every other Tuesday in
H206, Ms. Gefell’s room. Our first meeting this school year will be held next
Tuesday, on September 18. Everything is welcome- hope to see you there!
Students: Code Red Robotics is holding their
new member meeting this Tuesday, the 18th. Whether you're interested in graphic
design, programming, writing, electronics, business, community outreach or
anything else, there's a place for you on Code Red Robotics! Come to our new
member Tuesday, September 18th, in E1 at IHS for more information. No
experience needed! See you then!
The following college reps will be at IHS
today: Sacred Heart University at 9:45; University of Chicago at 12:17. If
you’d like to meet with either of these reps, please see Ms. Sullivan in the
College and Career Office for a pass.
Auditions for the Fall Drama will be held on
Monday 9/17 from 5 to 7:30, on Tues 9/18 from 4 to 6:30 and on Wednesday 9/19
from 6 to 8:30. You only need to attend one session. No preparation
necessary, just bring your wonderful self!

Students: photos will be taken during your PE
Class today or Monday. Staff may have their photos taken either day, at
their convenience. Lifetouch Studios
will be in the building on Friday and Monday from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.
Extra order sheets/envelopes are available in the Main Office, Guidance
Office, Activities Building and in the Office of Student Life.
KPop Dance Club will begin meeting Monday in
the Dance Studio in Kulp. All are welcome.
International Club will begin meeting Tuesday
in K119. All are welcome.
Green Team meets Monday in H104, all new
members are welcome.
Today is the day to vote for the play you want
produced for the Fall Theatre Festival. What play will you chose: Teach
Me How to Cry by Patricia Jondry or Revolution by Joe Calarco? Vote today
through e-mail with the subject line "Voice & Choice: Fall Theatre
Festival.
Seniors: Our financial aid presentation
will be held on Monday - October 15th - from 6:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. in York
Lecture Hall. Our presenter, Barbie Bargher - Assistant Director of Student
Financial Services at
Ithaca College, will be providing financial aid information to seniors and
their families. Please do not miss out on this important event. Hope to see you
there.
Seniors: Tammy Shapiro and Kristin Blake from
Cornell University Admission's Office will be presenting to seniors on Wednesday
- September 26 - in F-16 in the Library during the lunch periods to
talk about the do's and don'ts of the college essay. Please plan to join them.
They will give you wonderful tips on writing a great essay! If you have a class
during the lunch period, you can get a pass from Ms. Sullivan in the College
and Career Office.
Attention Winter Varsity Track athletes: There
will be a meeting in the weight room at 4 pm on Monday, Sept. 17. If there are
any questions, see Coach Hunter.
The Yearbook is seeking new members to help
create the 2019 edition of the IHS Annual. Please come by J-20 and speak to Ms
Reitenbach or come to our meetings afterschool on Tuesdays in Library Lab 1.
Looking for graphic designers, photographers, writers and staff to learn all
aspects of putting together the Yearbook. No experience necessary.
Staff: Please remember that you are not
allowed to park in the small lot (near ITA building) unless there are
designated spots with lines. Emergency vehicles need to have access at
all times. If you are parked there,
please move your cars.
